INNOVA Skill Shot Portable Target

INNOVA's Skill Shot portable target is a wonderful piece of equipment that I was lucky enough to get my hands on for a birthday present from my lovely and thoughtful girlfriend.

I immediately removed the packaging to find all of about 3 items inside, boy they weren't kidding when the package said "Assembled in 10 seconds or less!". The product easily is setup in 10 seconds even on the first try. Basically open up footing, then open top of basket and bottom of basket, think umbrella here. The parts slide and lock together with push pins which make for easy assembly and disassembly.

I quickly started throwing discs into the basket from within the living/kitchen area before work for about 15mins, and then again when I returned for lunch for another 15mins. This basket will definitely improve my short range game and can't wait to use it more outside.

I can see the use of these to setup temporary courses in people’s backyards, at the beach, or basically where ever you happen to be going that day this thing can travel with you. They also include a handy carry case which reminds me of one of the fold up chairs everyone seems to have these days, but I do admit is a bit heavier.

Douglas Park Review: Springfield, IL
Written by Melissa Kublick

courses.gifDouglas Park in Springfield Illinois features 18 holes in the middle of town. This park features large, older trees with rolling hills. When you arrive at the parking lot you’ll notice a sign showing the tee-off points, but for the most part one basket leads towards the next tee pad, which are all concrete. Signs are located next to each tee-pad but are older and can be harder to read, so we had to check for exact locations of the baskets a few times, but no big deal there.

The mature trees give way to more open throwing field. However, the pin locations are what make it the most challenging in my opinion. Some of them are nestled on the edge of a hill where rolling is easily possible. As you continue through the course, you crisscross the large valley in the middle of the park several times, making it one of the hillier courses I’ve played. It made it fun for downward throws and more demanding for uphill throws. There are only a few baskets that call for a throw to curve extreme left or right. Most baskets are located on a pretty straight path from the tee pad. But that doesn’t mean there are not obstacles to maneuver around like trees and shrubs.

I enjoyed this course and would definitely try it again. I liked the level of challenge of this course and would recommend it anyone who visits the area to try it out sometime. For me, it was a good balance.

Ace Pool won!

Jesse Rower grabbed the Ace Pool on Sunday with an amazing ace on hole 18 on the final Sunday Doubles meeting. As we all sat there and watched his Innova Viper bounce up and down from the cross wind coming off the lake we all could see it had a good chance of going in. Sure enough it ripped right into the chains and feel comfortably in the basket for Jesse's first ace at SIUC.

Congratulations go out to Jesse and next time I see him he will be the happy recipient of the ace pool which was $15. The ace pool starts over now and as our leagues start back up the pool will grow again.

news.gif Marshall Street Disc Golf (MSDG) and SIDiscGolf.com have teamed up to bring you guys all the discs they have to offer at their everyday low prices but with the added bonus of every disc you buy gives back to the club!

While this is merely a 5% reward to the club it will still bring in additional funds to help grow the club as a whole and hopefully afford us to make some additonal perks available to our club members. These perks may included planned trips, equipment discounts, etc. In the end we all need discs and equipment, MSDG is one of the best retailers to deal with. they provide fast and friendly service with prices that are hard to beat!

As our club grows we hope to utilize our relationship with MSDG more and more with scorecards, tournament sign-ups, etc to provide additonal funding for tournaments, course improvements, etc.

So if you are in need of discs or equipment, give MSDG a try, you won't be disappointed and please remember to use the links provided here at SIDG to connect to MSDG otherwise the club loses out on the credit for the sale.
