events.gif Friday Night GloLittle late on posting how this event went, but you know what they say "better late then never".

At first the event looked like it could yet again be a rain out, but the disc golf gods thought they would be nice this time around and the rain moved out of the area just in time for it to turn out to be a great night for disc golf.

With night fall now happening around 9:00-9:15pm we had plenty of time to set the course up before the other players decided to wander on over (Andy!). Just as last time we set the course up we had a few people ask what was going on with all the lights and we gladly informed them, but seemed to hardly spark any interest out of them. Travis luckily had some sparklers which helped with grabbing their attention, not to mention some glow sticks, and eventually a cigarette or two.

We ended up with a total of 7 players out on the field which made for a fun evening as we had some seasoned players as well as some first timers. The new players really seemed to enjoy the laid back feel of the how the night game was ran and they had a chance to start learning how to better their game.

Amazingly the putting was really, really good that night and we think this had to do with the blue LED lights right in the middle of the baskets which made for easy concentration on the target. Many of us shot overall just as good as we do in the daylight....not sure what this really means but counts for something I guess.

travis_sparklers_disc.jpgTravis had the brilliant idea of attaching sparklers to his discs which made for a really awesome effect during flight and when it landed on the ground had a nice burst effect that made everyone go "Ooooo, ahhhh". Andy took the sparklers one step futher and tried to make a sparkler rocket out of about 6 sparklers taped into one giant one. This ended up not having a rocket effect, but more of a flare effect. I'm not sure if the disc was melted or not form this but Andy was able to finish hole 10 with his attached flare going the whole time which was very entertaining to the rest of us.

I think one disc was lost in the water but somehow we managed to find two discs out on the course...someone must have been playing that night and couldn't find them, so if you can identify any lost discs that night we will gladly return them.

We look forward to the next night glo event which will hopefully be the first Friday after Fall semester starts to give everyone that is back a fun event to come back to.
