Well Sunday was the last of the Sunday meetings before the
Bag Tag Madness tournament, and to our surprise there were only 3 of us total
to show up on time. Kevin did make it out later but was about 30-45 mins late.
This was surprising considering the beautiful day out for disc golf it was.
When we did arrive there was barely anyone out on the course
but by the time we did start it seemed like everyone and their girlfriends
popped up out of nowhere to get a round in. Being the first super nice day out,
sunny low 70’s, who could blame them right? We noticed a lot of people reading
the instruction signs, holding their newly bought discs from Dick’s Sporting
Goods , and searching for where the next basket was. This seems to be a common
sighting recently on our course and hopefully we can aid with putting more material up to
lead people in the right direction.
Needing to get some sun in before a fast approaching trip to
the Dominic Republic in May I thought it would be a good idea to where a
tanktop out. Can you say WRONG!!! I must say that I was toasted nicely after
being out for a few hours on the course and out in the lake retrieving discs. I
just hope that there is enough lotion and pain killers to take away the sting
of this first burn, lesson learned!
Speaking of being out in the lake yesterday, it was a first
for me to hear someone yelling at me to get out of the lake. I thought, was it break
time and everyone needed to get out, or was this some new policy where no one
could enter the lake? I could understand this if new testing was done on the
quality of water and the health risks that might be inherent to a dip in the
lake, but to find out from this guy yelling at me it was over….Bluegill spawns!
Now let me just say I normally don’t go thrashing the environment
for no apparent reason, but when I or fellow disc throwers lose a disc or two,
or thee in the lake it’s my right to go in after them. This guy was totally
serious about me getting out of the mucky water because there was supposedly
bluegill spawns in the area we were looking for discs. I did a little research
to find out when the bluegills do indeed spawn, and from what I can tell it is
too early and the water is still too cold for that. I can tell you that my
built-in thermometer did not agree that lake water was around 75 degrees, which
is the ideal temperature for Bluegills to spawn in. So to the guy yelling at me
about those precious little Bluegill spawns, try back in a few weeks and perhaps
you might have a valid point.
After scores where added up there was also a new #1 in the
Bag Tag Challenge, that being Missy. That’s right it’s the first time that a
women has held this position and she could hold onto that tag going into the
tournament. She played a great game and really caught me be surprise as I had
thought I was throwing a decent game. She beat me by one, but in the end, that
is all it takes to win a round. So congrats goes out to you Missy on being the
#1 tag holder and hopefully you can hold on to it going into the tournament.
