Morley Field in San
Diego, CA has lost
one of the more memorable landmarks that I can remember in my short disc golf
career. It seems due to the recent stormy weather that hit that area the Shoe
Tree as it has become to be known by has fallen down.
Read on for more info......
My first time seeing this tree I thought “What the hell?”
and continued on with my round of disc golf. I thought it was an interesting
part of the course and was one of the things that had been mentioned in a few
reviews of the course I had read before going to San Diego for vacation.
NBCSanDiego.com has a full story on the collapse of the shoe tree
with a bit of unknown history of the tree and how it became the shoe tree to
begin with. There are also a few pictures and video to check out as well.
I must say that while it was a weird landmark it is surely
one that will be missed by those that frequent the course daily and those that
happen to stumble on it while on vacation.
