Singles was much the same as doubles but everyone seemed to be a bit worn down. Some were starting to show their frustrations out there and it’s completely understandable as most of the players never played the course before. Some great shots where had with the people on my card and we could hear others making those crucial shots to keep them in the hunt. I must say though as the day drug on I was ready for it to end, and my score of +2 reflected this. Most of us faired similar in the singles results and by the time Caveman rolled out of the woods it was now dusk.

To end the day we had more rounds of “Ring of Fire” and a CTP. The CTP was won by our own Jim Parma, or is that Westerns Jim? Regardless what team he played for he won the CTP as he always seems to cash in at any event, even in the dark. He walked away with $40 and needs to lose some of that back to the club members!

Having only a team of 4 there, we ended up pulling an overall finish of 6th and a finish of 3rd in the singles round. The SIUE team that showed only played the doubles round for whatever reason, but still somehow was able to beat out one of the other schools. The winning team, which did not seem to surprise many, was indeed the Fighting Illini, so congrats to them on their overall win and probably wins in singles and doubles. It was also good to see that there were 4 woman golfers there competing as well, so hats off to them on their efforts.

All in all it was a great time and experience to get another tournament under all our belts. Hopefully next time we can get more of our members there and possibly grab a higher spot in the winners circle.

Man I wish I could have gone to this tourney. My buddy and I are alum of SIU and realy love that course. Too bad work up in Chicago caused us to miss it. Any chance to beat other schools to show how awesome people from SIU are should not be missed. Maybe next year. How is Parma doing? I haven't seen him for a while.

Parma is well and comes out when he needs to win some cash at doubles I think, LOL. It would be good to see some Alums show up next year for this event as I think they will continue it from what I hear.
